I've ever told you, i'm interested in system-hacking (wannabe). Yea, i've been patching Linux kernel 2.6.16.z for 3 days or so. For the sake of interactivity, responsiveness, etc --optimized-desktop-kernel--, i will do this :D

- CK kernel patch: for improving desktop performance, written by a practicing doctor in Australia
- Beyond patchset: co-operative development patchset of two maintainer -nitro and -archck. Based on -ck patch plus features+updates
- CKO patchset: AFAIK, not updated yet after 2.6.12. Same as Beyond, CKO patchset based on -ck patch but with different features+updates combination
- Bootsplash, nice graphical Linux boot, i want to try gensplash later
- ACPI4Linux: implementation configuration and power related standard into the Linux kernel
- UML skas: User-Mode Linux --it's not Unified Modelling Language-- skas mode
- Squashfs: compressed read only filesystem for Linux. some people said that squashfs better than cloop in performance
- Suspend2: hibernate-like function, more features compared to swusp
- Reiser4, new-generation filesystem developed by namesys
